Agents and the workspace.
Create specialists, organize your AI team, delegate work, and manage conversations.
Understand the workspace
WHOX gives each agent a persistent identity, conversation, settings, memory scope, and access to tools. Agents appear in the left sidebar. Select an agent to open its conversation and current work.
Use specialists instead of one general-purpose agent when responsibilities require different instructions, models, memory, or computer access. Common roles include a Chief of Staff, Researcher, Writer, Analyst, Developer, and Support Lead.
Write strong agent instructions
Open an agent, show the right panel, and switch from Computer to Settings. Use the fields as follows:
- Name: a recognizable identity used in the sidebar and mentions.
- Title: the agent's responsibility in one line.
- Description: durable instructions, quality standards, boundaries, and expected output.
- Model: a model override for this agent, or Workspace default.
- Thinking: the reasoning level used when the selected model supports it.
- Memory scope: shared, isolated, or inherited from the workspace default.
- Read replies aloud: automatically speaks completed responses when voice is configured.
Select Save after changing settings.
Assign work clearly
The best assignments describe an outcome rather than a vague topic. Include:
- What must be produced.
- Why the work matters.
- Source files or systems to use.
- Constraints and approval boundaries.
- The delivery format and deadline.
You can attach files, dictate a message, select a skill, or mention another agent from the composer. Reply to a specific message when your correction applies to one part of a longer conversation.
Coordinate multiple agents
Mention another agent with @ when its specialty is needed. Give each handoff a concrete deliverable. A lead agent can coordinate a larger outcome while specialists research, write, analyze, or build parts of it.
Keep shared memory enabled when agents should reuse team decisions and context. Use isolated memory when an agent handles work that should not influence other agents.
Organize agents into groups
Use groups to keep agents working on the same outcome together in the sidebar. Create a group, choose its agents, and open the group when you want one place to coordinate that team. Keep agent responsibilities distinct even inside a group so handoffs remain clear.
Follow work in Activity
Select Activity in the sidebar to review work across the team. Use it to see which agent is active, find recent results, and return to conversations that need input.
Within a conversation, status and tool messages show what the agent is doing. If the agent asks a question, answer in the thread so the response stays attached to the work.
Use the scratchpad
Open Agent Settings → Advanced to find the agent scratchpad. Use it for durable working notes the agent should keep close at hand, such as current priorities, definitions, checklists, or project-specific guidance. Remove stale notes so they do not compete with current instructions.
Manage an agent
Open agent settings to change its role, computer mode, model, reasoning level, memory, or voice. You can also:
- Export the agent's data when you need a copy.
- Clear conversation to start a fresh thread without deleting the agent.
- Archive an agent to remove it from the active team while keeping it available.
- Restore an agent from Archived.
- Delete an agent and choose whether its memories should also be deleted.
Review the memory choice carefully before deletion; removing memories can affect context used elsewhere.
