Memory, context, and files.

Control what agents remember, how context is shared, and where working files belong.

How context works

Every agent uses the current conversation, attached files, its role instructions, and available memory to complete work. Conversation context explains the current assignment; memory carries useful information into future assignments.

Put stable operating guidance in the agent description. Put task-specific details in the conversation. Use memory for durable facts such as preferences, decisions, terminology, recurring contacts, and established ways of working.

Connect memory

Open the sidebar menu and select Memory. Connect the available memory provider, then choose the default scope for the workspace.

  • Shared: agents can use relevant team memory, which is useful for common decisions and coordinated work.
  • Isolated: each agent keeps a separate memory boundary.

An individual agent can inherit the default or override it in Agent Settings → Advanced → Memory scope.

Choose the right scope

Use shared memory for agents working on the same business, product, or customer experience. Use isolated memory for confidential projects, separate clients, experiments, or roles where cross-agent context would be distracting.

Memory scope is not a substitute for permissions. Keep sensitive credentials out of conversations and give computers and integrations only the access they require.

Give agents useful context

For a new project, provide a short brief that identifies the objective, audience, constraints, prior decisions, and source files. Tell the agent which information is current and which older material should be ignored.

When an agent makes the same mistake more than once, update its description or explicitly ask it to remember the corrected preference. Avoid storing temporary deadlines or one-off instructions as durable guidance.

Work with files

Attach files directly to the assignment and name them in your message. For example:

Use brand-guide.pdf for tone and launch-notes.md for approved claims. Return launch-draft.md and do not modify the source files.

Use separate agent computers when projects need distinct file boundaries. Before clearing a conversation or deleting an agent, export anything you must retain.

Clear, archive, export, or delete

  • Clear conversation removes the current thread so you can begin fresh.
  • Archive moves an agent out of the active sidebar without immediately deleting it.
  • Export downloads the agent data available through settings.
  • Delete permanently removes the agent; WHOX asks whether its memories should be kept or deleted too.

Choose Delete memories too only when you are certain that retained context is no longer needed.
